Biography

Rachel Silverstein is a passionate opera singer and performer who truly enjoys every time she is on stage. Silverstein is completing her Masters of Music and will be performing the role of Helena in this spring’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Opera Theater Rutgers at Mason Gross School of the Arts. Her teachers and coaches include Nancy Gustafson of Mason Gross and James Lesniak of Pittsburgh Opera. She has performed with various opera festivals, including the Miami Classical Music Festival in Miami FL, the International Performing Arts Festival in Germany, and the Si Parla, Si Canta opera program in Italy. Silverstein has also performed as a soloist in orchestral concerts in the United States, Belgium, Holland, and England.

Silverstein is also a dedicated teacher known for her work with developing singers and young performers. She has regularly worked with students in the Beaver Valley Choral Society’s annual summer camp teaching masterclasses in vocal technique, diction, and character development. Silverstein specializes in classical vocal technique, which can be applied to any musical style including but not limited to pop, broadway, and jazz.
