Meg is the founder, director and head teacher of Dance Local, a space for creative dance education in Somerset County NJ (’21). She served as Managing Director of Dance New Jersey, a statewide nonprofit designed to serve the dance field at large (’20-’22). As an educator, Meg created and implemented the PreK-8 dance education curriculum for schools in Pittstown and Plainfield, NJ (’11-’18). As an adjunct professor for Rutgers University and William Paterson University, she has led undergraduate and graduate courses in modern dance technique, Broadway dance, dance pedagogy and dance appreciation (’18-’24). Meg has presented at state and national conferences on themes such as anti-bullying, problem solving for novice teachers and dance teacher identity in the 21st century. She has been a member of various committees at the NJ State Board of Education, including performing arts standards writing and review, model assessment creation and establishing guidance for aligning social-emotional learning targets to dance education standards (’12-’18). She has led her own dance company, Meg Hebert Dance as choreographer and had the opportunity to perform modern dance in New York City (06′-’10). Meg performs and is an active board member for a NJ based modern dance group (’20-’24).
