Dr. Jessica Morel teaches all levels of Aural Skills at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts. Additionally, she maintains an active career as an orchestral conductor. Highlights of her career have included leading nearly 50 performances with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the Charlotte Ballet as a guest conductor from 2018-2022, and serving as the Assistant Conductor for the Winston-Salem Symphony from 2016-2019, where she led classics, pops, educational, family, and community concerts. Additionally, she has led performances as a guest conductor with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Amarillo Symphony, Spartanburg Symphony, and the Rock Hill Symphony, and as a cover conductor, she has worked with the Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Memphis, Portland, and Charlotte Symphony Orchestras.
Currently Dr. Morel serves as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Musicopia String Orchestras in Philadelphia. She is known for her blazing track record of exciting grown with youth orchestra programs, including her leadership with the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras Program, and the Winston-Salem Symphony Youth Orchestras Program. Dr. Morel also served as the Visiting Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Evansville from 2015-2016.
A Los Angeles native, Dr. Morel began her career as winner of the 2014 International Conductors’ Workshop and Competition in Atlanta. She has worked with leading maestros around the world, including invitation to the Eastern Music Festival with Gerard Schwarz, the Cabrillo Festival with Marin Alsop, as well as serving as the Assistant Conductor for the Hot Springs Music Festival with Peter Bay. She holds degrees in Orchestral Conducting from the University of North Texas (DMA), the University of Nevada Las Vegas (MM), and a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Indiana University.
