Jessica Michal (she/her) is a professional dance artist based in the New York/New Jersey area. Originally from Robbinsville, New Jersey, Jess earned her BFA in Dance from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts in May 2021. In July 2019, she completed the Om Factory School of Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program under the guidance of Blair Ritchie and Taryn Vander Hoop. Her current artistic endeavors focus on collaborative processes and interdisciplinary work, leading her to fulfill roles as co-producer, director, choreographer, and performer. Jess is currently a company member with The Equus Projects NYC, under the direction of JoAnna Mendl Shaw, a site-specific and improvisation-based dance company that dances with horses. She also works as the movement director, studio manager, and lighting assistant for 530 Dance Photography in Hamilton, NJ. Additionally, Jess co-produces and co-directs the collaborative music and dance festival, When Waves Collide, with Nathan Bishop in Hunterdon County, NJ.
