Domecq Smith teaches for the Master of Music in Music Education Online in Rutgers Arts Online. He received a DMA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in music education with research focusing on New Jersey public school music teacher attitudes and perceptions of the evaluation process in a state-wide study. He holds additional degrees from Manhattan School of Music and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

He has published numerous articles and reviews in the international journal The Diapason. His contributions encompass historical organ literature analysis as well as reviews of new works, collections, and editions.

His compositions are published by the ECS Publishing Group, and distributed and performed in the United States and abroad. He is the recipient of two Meet the Composer Grants through the National Endowment for the Arts.
