Biography

Ann-Louise Wolf grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has worked as a stage manager for opera companies across the country, including: Piedmont Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Opera New Jersey, Des Moines Metro Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and San Diego Opera. She did graduate research on Presence and Voice for the Stage Manager. Wolf joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) for both the Schools of Drama and Design and Production. In addition to teaching, coaching, and advising work at UNCSA, Wolf served with ArtistCorps for eight years, developed The Wolf Method — a pre-k literacy preparedness program — and presented research on this program at the 2021 VASTA conference. In 2023, Wolf was the first adjunct faculty member ever awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award at UNCSA. In January of 2024, Wolf finished the process of becoming a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) in Laban-Bartenieff Movement Analysis from the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, culminating in comparative research on breath in Laban/Bartenieff work and Theatrical Voice work. Wolf has served as vocal/accent coach on many productions, some of which include: Lydia, Amadeus, Twelfth Night, Indecent, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, A Movie Star Has To Star In Black And White, The Hairy Ape, and Airline Highway.
