Application for UArts Students

Mason Gross School of the Arts is saddened to learn of the closing of Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. For UArts students displaced by this sudden closure, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to apply to the following programs to complete your degrees:

ART & DESIGN

  • BFA in Design First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Visual Arts First-Year and Transfer Students

DANCE

  • BFA in Dance – Transfer Students Only 

FILMMAKING

  • BFA in Filmmaking – First-Year and Transfer Students

MUSIC

  • BM in Classical Instrumental Performance – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BM in Composition – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BM in Jazz Studies – First-Year and Transfer Students

THEATER*+# 

  • BFA in Acting – Rising Sophomore and Junior Transfer Students only
  • BFA in Costume Design – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Costume Technology (Production Area) – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Dramaturgy – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Lighting Design – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Scenic Design – First-Year and Transfer Students
  • BFA in Technical Direction (Production Area) – First-Year and Transfer Students

*The BFA Acting program is not currently accepting applications for first-year or rising senior transfer students. However, Mason Gross advises actors interested in a diverse study of theater to explore our BFA in Dramaturgy program.

 Mason Gross currently does not offer a
degree in Musical Theater.

# The BFA Stage Management program is not currently accepting applications.

Matriculation to Mason Gross programs is subject to meeting the artistic and academic criteria for admission to Rutgers University and the Mason Gross School of the Arts.

How to Apply

New applicants who do not currently have an active Rutgers application for spring or fall 2024 must complete all steps listed below to be considered.   

STEP 1: Complete a Rutgers University Application no later than June 15, 2024 without paying the application fee.
STEP 2: Transfer students should upload a current college transcript, and current high school students should complete a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR).  
STEP 3: Once your Rutgers University Application is submitted, you will receive an email from Mason Gross Admissions with a link to complete the Mason Gross Talent Assessment/Artistic Application no later than June 30, 2024.   

Applicants who currently have an active Rutgers application for spring or fall 2024 with a status of Admit, Admit Withdrawn, Admit Not Coming, or Waitlist should email admissions@mgsa.rutgers.edu for more information.
