Opera Workshop: In Pursuit of Honest Expression

In Pursuit of Honest Expression is a clash between everyday words, poetry, and song. In this collision, we ask questions like: What and who do these different modes of expression serve? Where does true expression really lie? Do you find truth in the banal — the off-the-cuff, the un-curated, the quotidian — or in the heightened, the beautiful, the soaringly-sung, the special? In this work, with a mixture of inherited material and text generated by our ensemble of singers, we ask: How do we make a truthful connection, when so much history stands between us?
