Rebecca Cypess, Associate Director of the Music Department, is a recipient of a Provost’s Award for Excellence in Cross-Disciplinary Research. The award honors faculty whose research area aims to achieve disruptive or transformative impacts at the interface of two disparate fields of scholarship or inquiry. Cypess regularly traverses numerous disciplinary boundaries. Her “home field” is musicology, but she addresses crucial questions in fields such as the history of science, Jewish studies, women’s and gender studies, history, and musical performance.
