Seniors
Welcome to Your Senior Year!
Congratulations! Your senior year is an exciting time and the MGSA Advising & Student Success team is here to support you. As you move through the year, please be certain to read all communications regarding graduation from the Office for Advising & Student Success, your MGSA advisor, your academic department, and the university.
Throughout your senior year, our office communicates information about deadlines and alerts you to any problems related to your graduation. Please look for emails from the Advising & Student Success team, review your requirements on Degree Navigator, meet regularly with your advisor, and familiarize yourself with our Canvas site and the MGSA Question & Answer page.
Our team will provide information, reminders, and advising. The final responsibility for the successful completion of your journey is in your hands and we strongly encourage you to meet with your assigned MGSA advisor regularly to ensure that you are on track to graduate.
Finally, congratulations! We wish you well in this upcoming year and in all your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
The MGSA Advising & Student Success Team

MGSA Q&A
How can I check my graduation date?
You can find your declared year and month of graduation and any second majors or minors on the MyMajor Portal. Your review for graduation is determined by the year and month you have declared and must be updated as necessary.
- Changes can be made directly on the site.
- Your graduation date should be firmly declared by the end of the semester before you plan to graduate.
- You must verify the declared graduation date on your record in the fall and spring semesters of your senior year. If it is not accurate, you must change it before ethe deadline to file for graduation.
- You may request up to an additional year to complete the requirements for a second major or minor.
How can I check that my requirements are complete?
Degree Navigator is a valuable advising tool. Please continue to monitor your requirements on DN, but recognize that DN is not a substitute for speaking with your MGSA advisor. It is a good starting point to review your record, but you should always meet with your advisor to be sure you understand how your coursework is fulfilling your requirements. Please immediately alert your advisor to any errors in DN.
How will I know about important information for seniors?
- Once you are declared as a senior, we will communicate important information to you by email to your official Rutgers email address.
- The Canvas Calendar also has important dates and deadlines highlighted throughout the academic year.
- You are responsible for the information that is sent to you, much of which is time-sensitive or has firm deadlines, so please be sure to check your Rutgers email regularly and read messages thoroughly!
I planned to graduate this semester, but now I need to take courses next semester. What do I do and how can I register for the next term?
- Once you officially change your graduation date, you will be able to register for the next semester.
